In 2023/24, KCS celebrates 70 years by returning to its roots, performing masterworks by the world’s great composers, as well as newer works inspired by those classics. The season opens with Dan Forrest’s majestic Requiem for the Living on Sunday Nov 26 – “a work of great import…one of the most moving works I have heard in a very long while…”  Jeffrey Williams for New York Concert Review. Since its introduction in 2013, this transcendent prayer for peace and rest has had a powerful impact on choirs and audiences around the world. The work uses the traditional Requiem text, but interspersed with alternate text.

To introduce the Requiem is Edward Elgar’s haunting elegy They Are At Rest,  and Selig Sind Die Toten, a stunning motet by Heinrich Schütz, which uses the same text used by Brahms in the first movement of his Requiem.

Safety continues to be a priority. As regional Covid protocols are updated, KCS concert policies will also adapt.

The choir, conductor and pianist will largely unmasked with a few exceptions.

However our audiences are invited to wear masks.  The use of masks in indoor public spaces is still strongly recommended by public health officials.

Please visit this page on concert day for changes, if any.
