Marianne Trudel & Jonathan Stewart to Join KCS for World Premiere of New Work for Piano, Saxophone & Large Choir
Montreal-based pianist Marianne Trudel (recipient of the Prix Étoiles Galaxie de Radio-Canada at the Montréal Jazz Festival) and Kingston saxophonist Jonathan Stewart are excited to debut Trudel's newest composition "Le réel qui nous unit." The piece, commissioned by the Kingston Choral Society, will be performed at "All Together Different" on Sunday, May 5th at the Spire in Kingston.
“Many of my greatest experiences have come while performing with Marianne” insists Stewart who has collaborated with Trudel on several previous compositions. While both have made their names in the jazz world, they are thrilled to be working with a 100-member choir known more for Bach than Basie.
“I think that any time you can bring somewhat disparate elements of the cultural community together for a performance or presentation it serves to unite those elements,” suggests Stewart. “Not just for the performers, but for audiences as well.”
